When facing adversity and hard times, we often feel downhearted and dejected. Life might seem so unfair that the temptation of giving up becomes so enticing. We might consider letting go of our dreams and stop trying. In this kind of situations, inspirational stories of people whose situations were far worse than ours yet they refused to give in can rekindle our motivation.W.Mitchell is one of those people who beat the odds simply because he refused to be beaten by his circumstances. His story can teach us valuable lessons about how adopting the right attitude and resilience are what truly counts when it comes to achieving one's dreams.

Although he survived , he lost most of his fingers while his hands and face were horribly disfigured. Four years later, He injured his spinal cord when he crashed on a takeoff in a small aircraft.The last accident left him paralyzed from the waist down, yet all the other passengers in the aircraft walked out of the accident safe and sound, without any injuries or scratches.

The refusal of defeat :

Any rational person will understand why someone who has undergone such misfortunate events would give up. W.Mitchell, however, refused to surrender to self-pity and decided to become an inspirational model to show people that it doesn't matter what happens in one's life, all that matters is how he/she reacts to it. Taking responsibility for getting back up after you’ve been knocked down is what success is all about.
