The fundamental roles of social interaction is the theme stressed in Vygotsky's theory of cognitive development as the whole comunity has a big part to do in a child's development unlike Piaget who believes that a childs develpment is ahead of their social learning. The zone of proxmial development is the conttrast with what an individual learner can and cannot do with or without assistances, an example could be a university student who understand course material being studied in lectures and tutorials but unable to understand the concept while studing on their own. Therefore the student is taught an approah to studing readings and material alone (McLeod, 2012).

REM sleep at the age of 6 months can amount to 30% of their sleep which is important for physical and mental development. Some babies may fall asleep fairly quickly while others figet and mutter for 20 minutes before falling asleep. Babies between the ages of 3 to 6 months may fall into a pattern of falling a sleep twice during the day for up to two hours as Thomas has a four hour nap during the afternoon which is normal. Babies have different sleepig habits and require sleep at different times such is the case with Thomas sleeping at 9pm some nights and at 7pm other nights (Raisingchildren.net.au, 2016).
Meylination also known as the myelin sheath forms around axons. This myelin sheath helps the nerve cell in the body transmit information faster without loosing any signals along the way conecting other cells to the synapses (Berger, 2008). As we age myelination is forming in the frontal lobe which hepls cognitive development which includes reasonging, planning and decision making skills in addition to self control.
