For as long as I can remember, I have been known as “that kid”. One who would never cry no matter how dire the circumstances were, and who was always tougher than everyone else. This stigma has led to me receiving the worse end of situations over and over again, simply seeing that I handle it better than everyone else. Unfortunately, this rationale has continued ever since, and I have faced numerous adversities because of it. Yet, what these people do not understand is that just because I do not externalize everything, does not mean I am invulnerable; it does not mean I do not hurt.…

I am a sensitive, goal-oriented, and careful person. Being sensitive means being able to connect with my full range of emotions from happy to sad through my perception of senses. Although sensitivity is often seen as a negative adjective, I see it as a very positive adjective, as it has allowed me to perceive the my day-to-day life as anything but ordinary. For instance, I enjoy going to the beach a lot, and as a sensitive person I'm very perceptive and susceptible to the small changes that occur from the beach like the way the waves ebb and wane, the wind wisp me around on a windy day, the way the sun can beam down on me with so much ray and light. Instead of channeling my sensitivity to view the negative, stressful things in life like schoolwork or even work, I take time to channel my sensitivity to view the positive things in life!…

It is easy to slip into a state of envy when comparing your own life to someone else’s. This is due to the fact that jealousy comes when hearing of another's success without considering the hard work and dedication that was put in, the many obstacles that had to be overcome, and the pain and suffering that person was forced to endure. In the end, this comparison is hastily performed and the results are incorrect because the comparison was made between your whole journey, including both the good and the bad, and the other person’s success, without taking that person's failures into account. I feel that my life is still somewhat short of being labeled ‘good’; however, to my family back in Pakistan, just the thought that my life may not be flawless is hard to comprehend.…
