Voting Age In America Essay

Hello, Myself (Rebuttal) and my partner Robby Anselmo (Constructive) firmly agree that lowering the voting age is not a euphoric choice. We are on the negative side of our resolution resolved: the voting age in America should be lowered to age 14, and we believe that children that are age 14 should not be able to vote because they are irresponsible, childish, and can be reeled in easily. The value of my altercation is utilitarianism, and utilitarianism is the choice that is right for the people of the country. The reason we think this is true is because, they are not mature enough, because people can randomly choose a person and not even think about the candidates because they have a lot of homework and they do not get to watch the debates, and 14 year olds can be easily bribed by something a candidate can say. To begin, it is apparent that teenagers can be easily bribed by what someone says. For example, a candidate may say, “I will give children no homework!”, but does not mean you should vote for them, and …show more content…
Teenagers can do really audacious things, and this is a sign that the should not be able to decide on a leader for our country. “Fourteen-year-olds can barely make decisions on what they are going to wear in the morning, let alone who should lead the country.”(“Heim, Joe”).These children are obviously not ready to have this big of an opportunity. To end, you can conclude that these teens should not be able to vote because they need to mature before they can start voting.
