Introduction As a woman, I know that there is an expectation from other women and men alike that I have to and must vote for Hilary Clinton for president. However, I respectfully have chosen another candidate that I feel exceeds qualifications to be our next president. I believe in a candidate who stands for justice, equality, and has been a civil rights activist since a very young age. I know as a young adult myself how incredibly hard it is to not only stand up for yourself but to consistently stand up for those who would otherwise not be seen or heard. Our country though advanced is still politically behind other advanced nations, it’s time that we have a political revolution that will help us move forward as a whole.…

In the speech, “Here I Stand” by Erica Goldson, she explains how the school system gets you to memorize the answers not learn the lessons. She first starts off about telling a story of a kid that wants to learn fast and a teacher explains to the student that learning takes time and to focus on more goals at a time. She goes on to explain how in school you’re more memorizing the answers rather than learning/preparing yourself for a career you’re really interested in or good at. She later talks about an expired school teacher that feels the same, that if they gave kids more time and to create risk takers to that we are not all the same people learning and doing the same thing. Erica Goldson later explains how a avant-grade teacher taught her…

In this chapter, “Idiot Nation”, the author Michael Moore tackles the theme of education in the U.S.A., with a style that ranges from extremely serious to the ironic pushed, with proposals also sometimes serious, sometimes blatantly provocative. Moore shows us the other face of the American school: so much science, but little historical culture, poor memory, stereotyped behaviors, total dependence on companies that sponsor books and courses of study. With the result that around the 40% of prestigious American universities (e.g., Harvard, Yale or Stanford) can not say in which century took place the American Civil War and “there are forty-four million of Americans who cannot read and write above a fourth-grade level— in other words, who are…
