I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Across the country, farms have been growing and taking a large part in business. In our project, we will include both, the hospitality and tourism aspects of Von Thun’s farm in South Brunswick, New Jersey and we will acknowledge customers experiences at this location. This farm started in 1913, when Henry VonThun purchased 90 acres of farmland and used it to grow potatoes and crops. It started with just Henry and soon his son continued to farm and carried on the family tradition. The target market is families as, they allow an entire page on their website for families. For starters, when one hears the word “farm” or the phrase “pumpkin picking” the image they see is a family with young children. The fact that farms use certain activities, picked strategically to excite and draw in children is put in place to attract this market. Children would not want to go to a farm and rake leaves but instead ride horses, pick and decorate their own pumpkins, and ride on a tractor. If it were not for these activities being held, the target would be different and shifted. Target audience plays a key role in decision making and customer service because it affects the wants and needs of those who attend the farm. The topic, being based on customer service and effectiveness deals with what customers want to see and the way they will react to these activities. That being said, the reason that so many sweet treats and warm cocoa or apple cider is available at Von Thun’s is to attract and satisfy those who come for the day. Children will most likely get hungry and being ready for an apple cider donut after a long day of picking apples and will go in to enjoy a snack. DESCRIPTION AND RATIONALE OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES SELECTED TO CONDUCT THE RESEARCH STUDY: We will conduct a survey for the customer satisfaction at Von Thun’s Farm. This survey will be developed through the use of a computer and will allow access to customers opinions. We will use either google or a survey generator website to produce this survey. The main goal we hope to achieve is that through the results of this survey, we will be able to determine what changes need to be made to Von Thun’s Farm in order to greaten the customer satisfaction. By comparing and analyzing the results of this survey, we are able to access customers opinions as well as their needs and wants while on the farm. Our survey will focus on satisfaction of customers, which is why we will need to make sure to ask appropriate and necessary questions. Our questions will give greater knowledge on the farms different social aspects and will give us an idea of how to better these problems. All in all, the survey will give us what is needed to further our understanding of the farms production and how successful it is, as well as customers appreciation for the farm and how to increase
