Volunteering Tae Kwon Do

Decent Essays
I love to help people. I volunteer to teach Tae Kwon Do (simuar to karate) two hours a week and have done so for two years. I love teaching kids, it is fun for me to help the kids learn to defend themselves and to see them have fun. Knowing how much fun I have volunteering at Tae Kwon Do, I think I would love voulnteering at other places, and National Honors Society would push me me to do so. What I would love to voulnteer for the most is with kids (with disabilities) and elderly people. There are many things I love to do and it would not bother me to do so for free. Money is not an important thing to me, when I do things for people I do not expect anything out of it, its called volunteering for a reason. When I teach I dont even think about

I have also co-founded a Community Outreach Club at high school. Through the Church I’ve assisted with Vacation Bible School and middle school retreats. One of my favorite memories came from volunteering for the first time with National Spanish Honor Society. Choosing to participate in this program was not a difficult decision, since I knew I wanted to continue practicing my Spanish and volunteer in the community at the same time.…

I volunteered at the Forest Mall for the Tootsie Roll Drive. This organization provides service for those people with intellectual disabilities. What I physically did while volunteering at the Forest Mall was hand out Tootsie Rolls outside to the people that donated money. I also would kindly ask people to donate as they came in or out of the mall. I kept a kind and loving smile on my face to welcome anyone who was willing to donate.…

Through student council I have worked closely with my teachers and advisors to better my school by bringing our student body together for events such as pep rallies and competitive games during homecoming week. I have also made great friendships with peers outside of my usual classrooms which has helped shape me into a well rounded person. With National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society, we have bettered our community through projects such as a can food drive and buying Christmas gifts for children in need. National Honor Society has also helped me gain connections with our local Special Olympics where I volunteered this past year and plan to continue volunteering. It’s almost expected for someone to write an essay about wanting to go to Africa to help the suffering children and adults because it’s such a simple essay, but I truly mean it. Since I was young I have had the genuine passion for helping others and this odd interest in wanting to do so much, as to visit a third world country. Maybe it was my guilt over not doing anything for others when I was a child, or maybe it was the lack of continued practice of my religion where I would have been taught to give to others, but there was always such a want to help so much. When I was young I remember reading a kid’s magazine and inside was an article about a school who organized a trip to Africa for the kids to help there. I grew up doing charity, my elementary…

If I had all of the necessary money and time needed to do so, I would support a lot of organizations that can make the world a better place.…
