When you wake up in the morning and go for your morning jog, and see people sleeping in parks or desperately begging for money, what do you see? Do you envision failure or opportunity? What do you perceive of the situation? Irresponsibility for all those people’s well-being or, a burden to help get back on their feet? Honestly, when I see someone on the street begging for money, I don’t always give them money, but I have found a way to help people before they get in that position. Every Sunday morning, I wake-up and get in van with 2 or 3 more people and we gather the kids in the morning for church, but more goes on in the van than telling little kids to be quiet. From the time the kids get in the van to the time we arrive at the church, my friends and I interact with and mentor the children. If you haven’t guessed already, I work with young children who live in a low-income area where negative influences plague the neighborhoods. On every Sunday at 7:45 to 10:00, my …show more content…
The kids that I were working with weren’t to much younger than me so, I didn’t have much authority over them and it has been one of my biggest challenges as a volunteer, which has taught a very important lesson when being a leader. You need to have confidence in who you are and what you stand for. My participation in my volunteering is forward looking as in it will give me experience to be a leader in group projects in the near and distant future. I hope that through my volunteer activities, young children grow up responsible, accountable, and attain the mind of Christ in their consciousness. I have faith that in the future, when I look back on my volunteer activities, I don’t know how much of an impact I will make, because everybody has choice to do right or wrong, but I just hope that I have an impact on at least one individual’s

They’re about 7.125 billion people in the world, and in no way is it possible that every one of those people are “good.” The reason I put that word in parenthesis is because the meaning of it varies from one another. For example, they could be a good father, but an evil husband. The word good will be used in a sense of moral goodness. Out of all those people in the world, a small majority of them can’t make humanity evil just because they want to be.…

Keller’s statement on page seven, “It stands to reason that injustice is easier to perform against people without the money or social status to defend themselves” (Keller, 2012). People who are poor or lack social status tend to be victims of injustice more than people who are rich and have social leverage. People who are more vulnerable, less money or social pull, are the lower class and are treated as such. If you can’t afford a legal bills or you don’t have any connections than people take advantage of you. Lower class can be treated as if they are less of a person or don’t matter as much.…

With sunken, hallow eyes filled with despair, people line up for spare change across the streets of America. The pennies that they get are often all that they have to buy food or a few small things that they might need. It might seem impossible that hunger could be so commonplace in the richest country of the world, but it is. Many here have to live in poverty because they have lost their jobs, or they have been ill for many years. The few homeless shelters and missions that can help are so full that some can only allow people to stay for a few hours a day.…

When I got asked to help volunteer at my church’s children worship I thought I would only watch and help a little, but I was wrong. The chidren were very curious about God and how to be a good Christian. On my first day volunteering I got to lead the first grade class and would have to teach a lesson about temptations and how to withstand from bad temptations. After teaching, ages from four to seven came together singing about God’s word then a story was told about how to overcome everyday sinful temptations and the children were so intrigued and fascinated with the story that once it was over they asked questions and a young girl, Lily asked me a question. Lily asked me about ways I defy bad temptations and what I did to be a follower of…

Perhaps you've read about the weathered tombstone in an old cemetery in Indiana that bears this epitaph: Pause, stranger, when you pass me by; As you are now, so once was I, As I am now, so you will be, So prepare for death and follow me. An unknown passerby read those words and etched this reply below them: To follow you I'm not content, Until I know which way you went. That passerby was right on. The most important thing to know about dying is “What follows death?”; Or to be more specific, “Where are you going?”…

I hate it when people take up the whole sidewalk, like why can’t people walk straight instead of moving throughout the whole sidewalk. Like I’m here walking, trying to get by you and you move to the side of where I was going. Now it makes me look like I’m going to rob you or I’m following you. Over the past three years I have been given the chance to impact the community around me. Every summer my church provides middle school and high school students an experience of a lifetime called Camp 75. Composed of two weeks, Camp 75 is the opportunity to go out and make a difference among the children, adults, and attendees in the area. While putting on seventy five minute camps students are educating a younger generation about Christ and His overwhelming love for everyone. Through skits, games, and gospels students are connecting with children and their families in incredible ways.…

Persuade: I am going to persuade you that donating is the right thing to do, I believe that people will address the poverty around the world with grace and gratitude but will conclude that there is nothing that can be done to help them. This is not true, I think it’s easy to forget about the other percent of the world who are not in poverty small change to them can turn into a life-saving pool of money, while poverty is extreme we can most definitely spare some change and donate. The fact is that you don't have to be a millionaire to make a small scratch in the world of poverty and maybe even better a young boy's life. There are hundreds of nonprofit organizations that will funnel your money and everyone who has chosen to donate. Donating…

Domestic violence shelters are characterized by helping women and children that are financially struggling to support themselves. Women struggle because they cannot find a job due to their abuse and the shelter struggles because they have decreased government funds due to new bills and old laws. Improvement in the meals provided to the children do not change much over the years. In my semester, the only change was including slices of apple during snack and lunch for the last two weeks. Although this is change, more than one slice of apple is going to be needed in order to give the children the proper amount of nutrients in order to grow and develop properly.…
