Many schools required students to participate in volunteer programs to graduate. There are many places to volunteer in the community. Students could help the elderly or animals. I believe that students should be required to volunteer to receive their diplomas because volunteering shows leadership, teamwork, and selflessness.
Volunteering shows leadership by having the students try something challenging. I volunteered at the food bank one summer. Everyone that was there had specific position; my position was to make sure the boxes had enough of products for each family member. As an example, if a family has three members living with them, then they would get enough food, personal hygiene, and clothing items.
Besides leadership skills, it shows teamwork by having the students work together in a big project. They could have a car wash and need people to help with the cars. They need each other to do specific jobs, such as, people to direct traffic, to wash, rinse, and dry the cars. …show more content…
