While volunteering in a dental office i gained tremendous amount of knowledge about how a dental office operates. I learned about procedures involved for every case and the equipment used for each one. It was important for me to observe not only what the dentist was doing, but the reactions of the patient as well. While working some patients were more sensitive to pain and pressure than others and i was told to ensure to minimize discomfort as much as possible. At the same time however it was important to do this in a productive manner to ensure that this temporary pain doesn't interfere with the work that needs to be done to avoid more pain in the future. Learning how to communicate with patients outside of the exam room was also a valuable
