Volunteering as a Health Scholar at Riverside Community Hospital has given me any opportunities to go above and beyond for patients. During my rotation as a Patient Experience Ambassador, I was able to go into each room on the Telemetry floor and make sure each patient was as comfortable as possible while being able to talk to and get to know a few of them. One specific patient, however, seemed to be having a bad time but would never ask for anything because he did not want to bother the staff. I took this opportunity to make sure he was comfortable by checking with him every 30 minutes to see if I could help him adjust in the bed, could get him something to drink and even just talk to him.
