My Volunteer Work Experience

Improved Essays
Whether it is a volunteer or an employment experience it is beneficial, I learned this through my own experiences. Although some experiences may have been more important than others, I still found myself learning a new skill, which has helped mold me into the person I am now.
Most of my experiences, both work and volunteer have been customer service based. I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults, though I wish it was more on a personal level. Most of my experiences have been behind a register or desk, with the exception of my volunteer work.

I loved listening to the stories that the customers would share with me, although most of the stories, i’m sure were exaggerated they were highly entertaining and made my day interesting.
I spend my school year working at the Fitness and Recreation Center. My main responsibilities include keeping the facility clean, educating individuals on how to properly use equipment, and setting up/taking down equipment when needed. I would say that this is one of the most enjoyable jobs I have had so far. It is a laid back atmosphere, I get to be around an environment that I love, and my co workers are all very friendly.
Working at the Fitness and Recreation Center is fairly easy, but there are definitely some tasks that are still difficult for me. The most difficult task for me has been approaching members when they are using a piece of equipment improperly and instructing them on how to properly use it without the individual feeling defeated. I have greatly improved on telling members that I am not trying to offend them, that I am just looking out for their

I want to be a Link Crew Leader because I would love to be able to mentor freshman as my previous Link Crew Leaders did to me. I also feel that becoming a Link Crew Leader would not only allow me to help shape freshman to become better people but to help me become a better person myself. I have been both a volunteer at a summer program for first and second graders and an assistant coach for the special needs program at Alta Loma Little League. At the summer program I was tasked with teaching 3 classes of first graders to type and code. This leadership position not only taught me how to actively communicate with people who learn in different ways, but also taught me to become a stronger leader.…

At the start of my junior year, I realized that I needed to volunteer my time more than just the occasional “Community Project” that I did with my school’s Student Leadership Program. My mother gave me the idea of working at the Awana Club, a club for children from Pre-K up to 5th grade, which focuses on the Bible and creation of friendships. To a sixteen year old who thought kids were the spawns of Satan himself, Awana sounded like the worst possible place to volunteer. But, my mother is very persistent.…

If only there would have been more people volunteering, then so much more people could have been helped. And if more people can be help, then the suffering on earth can be ease. The big problem is that everyone is so busy with their personal life that they forget about the importance of helping others.
