Voluntary setting: These are traditionally charities dependant on donations to carry out their work. It is a setting usually staffed by volunteers. Recently many local authorities have started to buy the services of these settings. An example of a setting is the Pre-School Learning Alliance. This is a registered charity whose aim is to promote education. Because of this it receives funding from both private donations and local authorities. A voluntary setting is usually non-profit with any extra income left over from donations used for further activities.
Private Setting: These settings aim to make a profit and be a business. Some money will be put back into the business and the rest distributed between individuals who run the business. An
