Figures and statistics released from the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) show that the level of need is considerable; in April to June 2015 (2015a) the DCLG recorded 13.580 households that applied for statutory homelessness; in that same quarter some 66,980 households were in temporary accommodation awaiting rehousing. The following quarter July to September (2015b) saw a rise in both applications of households for statutory homelessness at 14,670 and 68,560 households in temporary accommodation.
There are around 27 million (Office of National Statistics, 2015) households in the UK and in the second quarter of 2015, 13,850 of those households sought and requested statutory homeless status. Whilst a substantial 66.980
