Volume Of Gummy Bear

Improved Essays
With the before and after measurements in two graphs, one can easily figure out that no matter which solution the bear is soaked in, it will increase to some extent. In tap water, the gummy bear started with a mass of two point eight grams and changed 217.9 percent to eight point nine grams. The volume of the gummy bear started off at 1,296mm^3 and change 617.6 percent to a volume of 9,300 grams (Table 1). In the cup is sugar water, the gummy bear went from a mass of two point seven grams to seven point three grams with a 170.4 percent change. The volume of that gummy bear increased by 420 percent by going from 1,350mm^3 to 7,020mm^3 (Table 1). Lastly, the third gummy bear had a twenty-five point nine percent change in mass by going from two

Introduction Elena Muhs was contacted by the company Tantrum Toys to test a new bubble solution they had created to see if it would make bigger, longer lasting bubbles compared to other formulas. Her group was instructed to test six bubble solutions, one of which was Tantrum Toys new solution and another was Tantrum Toys currently marketed solution. Each solution was identically packaged and marked with only a solution number in order to eliminate the possibility of bias in the laboratory. Muhs and her group of scientist have been asked to find the best bubble solution. Muhs was instructed to test the size of bubbles created from each solution in two tests, one was a dome bubble test and the other was a free-floating bubble test.…

This experiment would benefit society because it informs the society the better way of consuming medicine or alka seltzer in order to see faster effect in the body. Aim: To investigate the breaking of the alka seltzer into larger surface area (½ and ¼) affects the time it dissolves. Hypothesis: The more alka seltzer is broken, it dissolves faster in water and the less it’s broken, slower it dissolves in water. Equipment: - 9…

This was because diffusion is the process where the molecules of both substances interact, with a constant kinetic energy. Therefore because the salt would increase the mass of the water, it would in result also increase the mass of the gummy bear because of the kinetic energy that interacts with both sets of molecules. In our planning stages we attempted to find a project idea which would vividly…

The sucrose concentrations in bags C and D is 25% and 50%. These solutions are more concentrated than the surrounding 1% sucrose concentrations. Thus, concentration gradients exist between the two Medias. As a result, the two bags begin gaining water. The bag C gains the solvent at a slower rate than by the bag…

Osmosis is the movement of water molecules through a semi permeable membrane to a low water potential from a high water potential. This semi permeable membrane is there to control the movement of materials that pass through the membrane out and into the cell (BBC). The rate of osmosis can be affected due to multiple aspects contributing to the effectiveness of the osmosis. This includes elements such as size of the particles, the temperature as well as the concentration of the solute. In the case of this experiment, the size of particles are something to consider as they can affect the rate of osmosis.…

The question that this experiment helped me answer was what makes ice melt faster salt or sugar. My hypothesis was if I pour ice with salt, then the ice amount of ice will be more because salt has more molecules than sugar does. In this experiment, I had to pour salt with ice and sugar with ice. Then you needed to place them in the fridge and wait one hour till one bowl of ice is halfway melted. Then I had to pour all the water out into a measuring cup but, had to keep the ice’s in the bowl.…

It is expected that if the concentration of sucrose increases from 0.0 M, 0.2 M, 0.4 M, 0.6 M and 0.8 M (±0.01 g) in a 40 (±0.5) mL sucrose solution, then the average percent change in mass in Solanum tuberosum core will decrease. This is because if the Solanum tuberosum cores are placed in a hypotonic sucrose solution, which is described as having lower osmolarity, than the percent change in mass of the Solanum tuberosum core will increase due to the fact that water molecules will be moving from an area of lower solute concentration to an area of higher solute concentration inside the Solanum tuberosum core. This will occur in a sucrose concentration of 0.0 M (±0.01 g) as no solute will be present in the water, however, some sucrose will already be present in the Solanum tuberosum core, resulting in water molecules to move into the Solanum tuberosum core, which will increase the percent change in mass.…

Many of things that we interact with are solids and liquids. However, there are some things that are combination of both called a Non-Newtonian Liquid, an example of this is oobleck. This substance has the qualities of a liquid but also has the qualities of a solid when under pressure. One of its qualities as a liquid is its ability to flow, known as viscosity. In this experiment will change the oobleck’s viscosity by changing its thickness.…

The experiment that I will be conducting focuses on how fast one tablet of Alka seltzer can dissolve in various temperatures of water. The core of this procedure is to determine the impact that temperature has on how fast something dissolves. My hypothesis for this experiment would be that the Alka Seltzer that dissolves the fastest would be the one that was placed in the water with the highest temperature. There will be controlled and manipulated variables explained throughout the experiment. The two main things used in this experiment will be the solute and the solvent, which is Alka Seltzer and water.…
