The Orphan of Zhao is a Chinese play from the Yuan era and it's written by thirteenth-century dramatist Ji Jun Xiang. It tells a story that takes place during the Spring and Autumn period of China. A nobility Minister Zhao and his family members were killed by an evil general, Tu’an GU. The grandson of Minister Zhao I the only survivor. A group of heroes sacrificed themselves only to protect the Zhao Orphan. He killed Tu’an GU for revenge when he had grown up. The Orphan Zhao is the first Chinese drama that ever introduced to European. Father Joseph Henri Marie de Prémare, a foreign Jesuit missionary, firstly translated it into French In the first half of 18 century. When Genghis Khan has occupied the Central plain of China he commanded to kill all members of the former imperial family. While Zamti and his wife Idamè tried their best to protect the last children of the imperial family. Genghis Khan was moved by their persistence and lofty sentiment. He released them in the end. The Orphan of China tells a story of a confliction and revolution between civilization and savagery rather than a story of family
