THESIS STATEMENT:
The Native American culture has derived itself throughout time, from creation until the present time, to connect humans, animals and the earth together and shows everyone their individual responsibility in maintaining a harmonious existence.

They walk, talk, dress and act like human beings. .The bears interact with humans and even one story tells of a bear that took a human bride. Many myths use different animals in order to portray the lesson that they are trying to teach. Totem poles are mythical statues that depict animals that are carved into wooden poles which mark entrances to villages, grave sites of chiefs and at the entrance of each house. Certain families would feel particular attachments to different animals. These animals would protect, offer advice and even lead the deceased into the afterlife. Some have the purpose to entertain, while others teach and try to guide the readers into thinking a certain way. They can provide comfort to those who are grieving, insight into creation or answers to lives most difficult questions. They can give guidance for the direction of life or the consequences of destructive behavior. Since myths can have multiple meanings and will be interpreted in alternative ways, Native Americans believe that the spirits can communicate with them through these stories. The myths use animals most often in order to be messengers for the spirits or gods to communicate with people. They bring meaning to our lives and assist us in being more aware of ourselves and understand how everything fits
