Vocational Profile of Dan:
Dan was an average twenty something who was enjoying life. He ran for his high school track team, he was going to college and he also had a perspective future in the automotive industry. But at the age of twenty two years old Dan was in a devastating accident that severed his spine which left him as a paraplegic bond to a wheel chair for the rest of his life. Since losing his aspirations of running and going to college Dan decided to stay home with his father to recuperate. During his time recuperating Dan felt like his life was taken away from him and felt depressed. During this time while he was depressed Dan lost all of his friends, his mother (who died), he did not take good care of allying body and he also

For the first section of WHODAS which is communication and understanding I would think that he would suggest that he has mild to moderate amount of communication and understanding of his situation. For Dan he does not convey the message that he is depressed to anyone close to him and he does not understand that by not taking care of his body that he is hurting himself. For the second section of WHODAS which is getting around I would think that he would suggest that he has none to mild movement. The reason for this is that since he does not have the same mobility that he used to from running to be forced in a wheelchair that he might think that he has to reason to get around. For the third section of WHODAS which is self-care I would think that he would suggest that he has none to mild self-care. Based on the case of Dan it suggest that since he is always depressed that he does not eat or takes care of his body. For the fourth section of WHODAS which is getting along with others I would think that he would suggest that he has none to mild. I would think that he would suggest that he can’t get along with others because he might think that no one truly understands his situation. For the fifth and sixth sections of WHODAS which is life activities and participate in society I would think he would suggests that he has none to mild amount. After estimating what Dan would suggest if he were to complete the WHODAS question I would consider that he contemplates that he has little to no rehabilitation potential in his life. The reason that he might think that he might think that he might have little to no rehabilitation potential in his life is that he thinks that since no one believes that he can be the person that he used to be therefore there is no reason to have any potential in his

In Carly’s Voice, you can find quite a few examples of the authors discussing different medications that have worked, some that worked but caused horrible side effects, or some that didn’t work at all. For example, on pages 138-140 it discusses the countless amount of doctors and medications that Carly took and visited for her violent “fits.” In the midst of the family’s frustrations, doctors prescribed Carly medications that were doing more harm than good. Dr. Stein, a physician who would look after Carly prescribed her “gabapentin.” Prior to her new medication schedule, Carly started experiencing abnormal side effects such as stomach aches, getting up in the middle of the night and staying up all night, waking up & spinning in circles while…

In the professional world vocal fry in women sounds to be an issue. That’s the thing, the professional world. In the article “From Upspeak to Vocal Fry: Are We “Policing” Young Women's Voices” the victim of the growing modern age seems to be having issues with her vocal fry, She also happens to work for news radio, which probably has an older target audience who ends up becoming the judges of her voice. Although my experience in retail, ALDO & Plato’s Closet, might be relevant. Since retail requires such “youthful” sense of enthusiasm in order to sell product, I’ve noticed something in the workplace, a repeating habit.…

This is perhaps the most personal discussion board I have ever wrote, which is probably a lot to take in for week one, but Bellow’s story took me by surprise. Dangling Man shook me. I don’t mean that I found it emotional, I mean that I found it so eerily similar to my life that it brought me to tears. Joseph could be me.
