Vladek Analysis

The story in the beginning starts out relatively slow. Artie stop s by the house of his father, Vladek, and wanted to learn the story of how his parents met. In the process Artie wants to learn the whole story of how his parents progressed throughout the Holocaust. In the beginning it is very happy for me to witness Vladek appear in society as a respected young individual, who has no social bias directed towards him. The streets in which he walks in with Ajya both seem relatively clean and relatively safe. It makes it almost impossible for me to believe that their ever could be any form of anti-semitism lingering upon 1940 Europe. What amazes me even more is how close the whole entire family is. There is always that rumor where the father-in …show more content…
While they show their hatred towards jews in the camps, the monitor still rewards Vladek handsomely with food in a respectful and caring manner. However, i still wonder, if Anja and Vladek had just stayed with their original host, would they still have lived, and would they still have been caught by the Gestapo. I honestly think that they would survive, because they were surviving efficiently, below the Nazi’s feet literally, when the husband would come home from vacation. I know that Anja has been wrong and winy in her past decisions, like giving up Richieu, but I honestly believe that Vladek should have listened to Anja after all look where they are …show more content…
Even Vladek progresses through the workforce of the camps. Originally he was a worker at the tin section. He fortunately received this job because the Polish officer asked Vladek of his prior working history. One could say he asked for his resume. However, them vladek got into the shoe section of the camp. One time he was given the task to repair a Nazi’s boot, and if he didn’t do a good job he would receive death. Luckily he did a superb job and received a full sausage. He saved enough food, but then it suddenly stolen by someone. He tried continuing on this endeavor again and through over some food to Anja over the fence. She received it but at the same time was running away from her Polish officer, and successfully lts her. Right now it was close to the time where Russia made several advances upon Germany and the Germans began by tearing down their gas chambers. While they were doing this, the other workers were digging giant holes where the dead that the Hungarians brought were dumped into the pit. However, both the live workers and the dead workers were sprayed upon with gasoline and lit aflame. Matter came to worse when the Nazi’s started killing of everyone who had the lice disease. Luckily Vladek found an are where he could quickly wash his shirt. However, matters came to worse when he contracted typhus and was bedridden. But he was overjoyed, including everyone else saw the train, not for mass

instead of saying “there was nothing to find, so they searched the neighbors.” This shows that even though Vladek moved to America he still hadn't lost his old way of speaking. In my analysis I will focus on the work of Julian Kulski in the book The Color of Courage. Kulski explains life as a ten year-old Boy Scout during World War II who so desperately wanted to fight against the Germans after they invaded his country of Poland. The purpose of this book is to give readers an inside look of what it was like to live during the war. The book is composed of many diary excerpts and actual pictures at the age of sixteen to help aid his post-traumatic stress. This book was written to describe the conditions and everything Kulski experienced in Warsaw.…

This is the first time Vladek express prejudice behavior towards someone. His racist outburst was unexpected and off-putting. Vladek, who had survived the Holocaust, is himself a racist. This is revealing, in the way that the racism that existed during the Holocaust, still survives in the present day, such as Vladek behavior towards "Shvarters". Francoise recognizes this hypocracy and calls Vladek out on it "That's outrageous!…

Schindler’s List, directed by Steven Spielberg, and Maus, written by Art Spiegelman, both focus on retelling the history of the Holocaust and the horrible crimes committed against its victims. With the Jewish population standing at over nine million, the goal of Nazi Germany was to completely dispose of the Jewish race and all other impurities of the world driven by their odium for them. "Evil starts when you begin to treat people as things" (Pratchett 181). Beginning with the Germans, the cruelty was formed and spread very quickly. The Germans grew cruel to the prisoners and the prisoners grew cruel to each other.…

Racism in Speigelmans, Maus, is quite often found to be the major underlying theme to many other problems encountered in the novel. Speigelman’s novel not only shows what racism the Jews experienced during the Holocaust but also provides his own critique on what transpired during that time. Vladek, who had gone through the Holocaust, has seen and dealt with this discrimination first hand, but yet after the war he himself is quite racist towards those who are not deemed equal in his eyes. This brings Spiegleman to look more and more into the racism during and also after the Holocaust. He critiques it within his story to show how dehumanization is not only unjust but on the other hand shows the structural chaste system in society.…

With all things considered, if a prisoner who did labor became very ill or hurt, they were sent to the gas chambers in Birkenau (Berenbaum).
