Vivisection Is Inhumane

Improved Essays
Vivisection is inhumane and cruel. Everyday animals are put through horrendous testing over and over again, just in the name of science. These animals are taken from their homes, beaten and used up in the labs, and are even put down when they are not needed. Animals and humans are built differently; because of this, animals do not suffer from disease in the same way that people do. Effort should be made prohibiting vivisection because it is unnecessary, inhumane, and morally unethical. According to the shell ethics article it says that, “Vivisection is a completely outdated form of experimentation and irrelevant medical practice that serves no purpose than to torture and kill animals in laboratories.” There are plenty of alternatives to animal …show more content…
Some inhuman ways include his horrifying it is that some animals are just taken from their home to be used up in laboratories. An example of this are the chimpanzees that are separated from their families. Profoundly social beings, they spend everyday together exploring, crafting and using tools to solve problems together. But sadly, in the early 1920s, experimenters in the U.S. began purchasing baby chimpanzees, who had been kidnapped from the forests of Central and West Africa. To capture baby chimpanzees, hunters would kill the mothers and any other adult chimpanzees who tried to defend the babies. Often, whole families were killed just to obtain a few babies. The mortality rate among these babies during captivity and transport was increased . Those who made it to U.S. laboratories suffered terribly and died young. An example can include when an animal is no longer useful and what they do to them. Some animals need to be euthanized after testing, this is done quickly and humanely to avoid any pain to the animals. Some animals are euthanized using a gas that is inhaled and results in rapid death. The animal may be put into a chamber where it will then inhale the gas; usually carbon monoxide. Another method used to euthanize animals after is used for testing are sedative or anesthetic ways. In fact, such methods are used in water to euthanize fish that have been used for vivisection. An example is a pig that following exposure to a lethal dose of radiation, showed signs of organ failure, loss of appetite, depression, had chronic bleeding from injection sites, an injured tooth, and did not want to stand up but was seen with his head hanging in his water bowl with his nostrils submerged. Another example is when three dogs were forced to ingest a test substance every day for five days; they experienced labored breathing and a high heart rate. They became cold to the touch, were not able to be aroused and

For example, In Rise of the Planet of the Apes, when Rodman's experiment with Bright Eyes fails, Gensys deems the chimps useless and due for extermination. This very emotionless aspect of science trades emotion and empathy in exchange for science that does not care about the world, its specimens, and the well being of conscious creatures. Rather than harming the chimps, Gensys could have donated them to a sanctuary; instead, in the name of profit, they euthanized them—even going so far as to kill a mother chimp. These types of actions are widespread in science. For instance: animal testing; animal testing done for experimentation usually produces less-than-stellar results, done to save money, and leads to extremely cruel procedures done on innocent and conscious animals.…

When the animals come to a testing laboratory, they are subjected to many things that will horrify you to imagine, but this paper will go into detail about what they endure so you can have a clear view of what happens to these animals. When these animals are taken to the laboratory for testing, they are commonly subjected to force feeding by tubes and needles, are forced to breathe a certain type of gas that can permanently alter them, and even be deprived of food and water for days while these experiments go on. Not only do they have to go through these things everyday, but they also undergo long periods of physical restraint, infliction or burns and other, sometimes serious wounds so that the corporations that are testing on them can examine the healing processes of these animals. Neck-breaking, decapitation, and infliction of pain, to study effects and medicine remedies are also very common. The draize eye test is also commonly used by cosmetic companies to evaluate irritation caused by shampoos, which involves rabbits being incapacitated with their eyelids held open by metal clamps.…

End animal testing Since times unmemorable humans and animals have had a special relationship. Animals have kept us alive and we cared for them. The Bible speaks of Adam and Eve being clothed in animal skins at the time of their departure from the Garden of Eden. In those days animals were respected because of their sacrifice. Recent scientific discoveries and advances in medicine opened up a new field of uses for animals other than just food or clothing.…

Animal Cruelty Animal testing is cruel because animals have feelings too and they are dying. The population of dead animals has gone up since 2010. Animals are being killed and put through a lot of pain. People think that just because they are animals they don’t have feelings when they really do. Animals should not be put through all that pain because they are just like humans they feel everything and understand more than we think.…

Animals all over the globe are sitting in a cage right now, scared, cold and alone waiting for the next experiment to be done to them. They sit in this cage longing for the day that they are able to free, if they survive the experiments or if they are of no longer need to the scientists. Every year there are millions of animals killed in laboratories from the tests and experiments done to them. These poor, defenseless animals are poisoned, shocked, and burned during these tests and are often killed because of this. If these actions were done outside of a laboratory it would be considered animal abuse.…

There is no denying that using animals in the progress of medical research and study is necessary. That being said, the current rulings and principles of this form of scientific research are being challenged by different countries worldwide. In one such case, a U.K. clinical trial was done to limit the use of animals in their study of the TeGenero leukemia drug. “Of the new European tests, for example, five detect pyrogenic contaminants in drugs—bacteria that infiltrate injectable or intravenous drugs during manufacturing and cause lethal immune reactions. The tests rely on cultured human white blood cells and might replace two existing, more expensive methods—the Limulus assay and testing on rabbits” (Sinha).…

“Each year, more than 100 million animals—including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds—are killed in U.S. laboratories for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics testing(Using)”. It is estimated that at least 6% of the animals also experience pain. It may not look like a lot, but 6% is a lot when there are more than 100 million animals being tested. According to Orlans, the animals suffer from "vomiting, diarrhea, paralysis, convulsion, and internal bleeding. Since death is the required endpoint, dying animals are not put out of their misery by euthanasia"…

Research Format Essay Animal Experimentation Animal Experimentation is wrong in many different ways. Did you know that 21% of animals that go under intense experimentation die? Animals such as mice, rabbits, and pigs are used to undergo experiments for human advancement. These living things deserve to live pain free lives just as much as we do. This is not always thought of because as stated by Jeremey Bentham of neaves.org “many project call for immobilization of a body part or the entire body itself”.…

The animals kept in laboratories for experimentation go through mistreatment and incredible pain for human gain (Bishop and Nolen 92). Animal experimentation began centuries ago around the 1700’s in ancient Rome where many artists and scholars became curious over the human body. Technology was not as advanced as it is today so the alternatives that are present now were not present then. They believed that using the human body as an experiment was wrong and that humans have dominion over the animals. In addition, they also believed that animals were not capable of feeling any…
