A pigmentation disorder which causes white patches on the skin is called Vitiligo. The main cause for Vitiligo is the destruction of melanocyte that is responsible for skin color. Not only in the body, but also in the mucus of nose, retina and mouth do have white patches. The face is like an open book which reveals personality, character, and health. When the patches affect the face, the entire confidence will vanish.
What causes Vitiligo?
Vitiligo causes are determined to be two factors. One is stated as an auto-immune disorder and another is hereditary.

These have the tendency of re-pigmenting or removing the white patches. Since the creams cause side effects, careful monitoring is a must.
Psoralen photochemotherapy: In this therapy, chemicals are used to react with ultraviolet light to make the skin darker. Psoralen is either ingested or applied topically on the affected area, exposing the area to sunlight or ultraviolet light. During this process, the skin turns pink and gradually darkens and matching the surrounding skin. The potential side effects of this therapy are blistering, sunburn marks, hyperpigmentation in the treated patches site or on the normal skin surrounding the Vitiligo.
Autologous skin grafts: (Surgical procedure)
The cosmetic surgeon grafts the normal pigmented skin from one area and attaching it to the de-pigmented area (white patches). Patients who do have small white patches are suitable for this treatment. Scars are seen in the grafted areas, then it is treated with medications, gradually the scars disappear.
Micro-pigmentation (tattooing): (Surgical procedure)
Using a surgical instrument, the surgeon implants the pigments on the white patches and this treatment helps for dark skinned
