My Personal Goal Statement Every day I wake up, I ask myself how I can make a difference. This question has helped shape my personal values and principles and directed my path into the nursing field. Healthcare delivery and poverty are two major underlying factors in the challenges faced in Africa, thus, when I got an opportunity to come into the United States, it was my golden ticket to finally give back to the community and make a difference. This led me into the nursing field; I started out as a Certified Nurse Assistant.…

Professional Moral Compass in Nursing Values play a significant role in shaping professional identity by influencing the actions and behaviors of practitioners in their day to day activities. Three fundamental personal values shape my understanding of nursing. To begin with, being a nurse requires a person to be very responsible. Being responsible means that nurses should not only be willing to do what is expected of them but also beyond these expectations as long as it will improve patient conditions. It is the level and sense of responsibility within each nurse that will determine the cases of negligence and poor patient care.…
The ultimate reason of the healthcare to exist is to care for people. And this is why it’s important to preserve compassion to another human being throughout your career as a nurse. One of my now coworkers, Melissa, a cheerful nurse that spent the last thirty five years in the ICU, dealing with life and death on a daily basis. She was taking care of an elderly patient in the room next to where I had my assignment. It is not unusual for elderly patients who end up in the ICU after a major surgery to become temporarily confused.…

Nursing has come a long way and entails many more aspects than they are even given credit for. A nurse wears many hats and is required to perform duties outside of healing obvious wounds.…

Coaching leadership style distinctively outline roles and tasks of followers, but the followers are included in the sharing of ideas and suggestions, and open communication style, but the leader still makes the ultimate decision (Boykins et al., 2013).…
As a future nurse educator I look forward to teaching college students. I picture myself teaching students the basics of nursing. I hope that I have a good mentor as I enter this field. I noticed this theme in my reading and feel that this would be a plus to my learning how to approach the students. I also feel that I am wise enough to realize that I am one who knows that she does not know it all, I am willing to help a student know where to find it.…
