When researching the class of horse that the supplement should be given to, the front label on the container read, “For all classes of horses.” Once you look more into the supplement it states, “Appropriate for horses exerting severe physical effort.” (Farnam) Growing up we used Vita- Min E & Selenium in our racehorse diets but we never used it in our non-working horses. I could not find a research study that talked about the affects that vitamin E and Selenium have on a racehorses. My opinion comes down to the hot topic of horse slaughter. I think that if the government had more oversight into what goes in to horses and the withdrawal times. People would not be so touchy when the topic of, if horses should be made for human consumption. Knowing that the government has some power over what goes into an animal changes peoples’ opinions on what to see as “people food”. I also think that a manufacturer should be able to prove the safety of the supplement before it goes on the market. It goes hand in hand with the federal government being more involved. If horse meat was used for consumption they would not allow a supplement that was not safe into the body of the horse. But safety does not always have to be about people, the horse’s safety is also important. In my opinion, I do not think that the companies have to prove that the supplement works. Many companies already run test but they alter their results to fit the product. A lot of the horse industry is trial and error with supplements. I would be nice if companies told the truth about all their results but then again no two horses are the same. Horse A might react different then Horse

The key protocols of the Reconstruction process involved a focus on improving civil rights. The addition of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution on July 9, 1968, gave all citizens born on American soil equal protection of their unalienable rights without any regards to their race. 1.) Authorize euthanasia and unrestricted sale: “Current restrictions placed on BLM limit their ability to sustainably and cost-effectively manage wild horses and burros. Authorizing unrestricted sale and euthanasia as permitted by the 1971 Act will enable BLM to relieve themselves of the high costs of caring for these animals indefinitely.” (wild horse range pg.3). This is a very unpopular solution with animal rights activist, however the National Horse & Burro Advisory Board has worked on several recommendations to appease both sides, such as, “Direct agencies to euthanize excess animals for which an adoption demand does not exist pursuant to the 1971 Act and/or sell animals that either 1) are over 10 years of age or 2) have been passed up for adoption 3 times, under a 2004…

Our investigation started by investigating the loading of Sean Tarry’s horse. We found with the load in from Randjies that the horse loaded fairly well and that during the trip to Turffontein went calm as expected of a first time runner. The horse ran in race 1, and the return was scheduled after race 3 with the half an hour that we have to give the race 3 runners, but they only started loading after race 4. The horse loaded into the float with no problems the door was closed at the back enclosing the horse in the loading bay where she stood shuffling around. The driver then inspected all the loading ramps to make sure that they are properly closed and secured, he then asked all the grooms if all is ok and if he can leave.…

Cold Truth of Animal Brutality Food is an essential part of life for everyone on this planet. Unfortunately, many people don’t realize the harsh conditions the animals that we consume go through on a daily basis. As the director Eric Schlosser pointed out, “The way we eat has changed more in the last 50 years than in the previous 10,000…” is a testament to how our food has been treated. Now a days, animals are neglected and thrown into factories to further companies’ mass production and assembly lines with profit being their main motive.…

Any kind and decent person would take a stand against the cruelty inflicted on animals by the food industry. Those that chose an alternative diet enjoy the rewards that come with supporting defenseless animals as opposed to the rapacious and malicious food industry. Hopefully bacon and baby back ribs smothered in barbeque sauce will lose their appeal once the veil of anonymity that shrouds the food industry is drawn back. Why is it that it is acceptable to eat a pig or a cow, but repulsive and almost insane to eat a dog? One of the only defining differences is that to a majority of the American public it is acceptable to mass slaughter one and then cuddle up to the other.…

Furthermore, advocates who pay attention to the supplement businesses say the FDA does not have the resources to make sure supplement companies are not breaking the law. One individual who had the most to say on this subject, Dr. Pieter Cohen, an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School says that, “Companies can introduce new products without registering them or even informing FDA,” also, “That's a nonsensical approach to regulating pills for health” (qtd in Weeks para 18).…

This is a complicated issue since many people fail to accept or understand that to make such changes companies need to collect information or even start clinical trials. Many years ago animal testing was a method that was extremely popular in testing how products will affect the human race. Now, due to companies like PETA and various other animal activist groups, scientists and other health related companies are finding it harder and harder to put certain medicines or vaccines to the test. Risks are getting increasingly worse due to the difficulty of collecting such data. And now many companies have to find other ways to collect it, like paying for healthy people to undergo clinical trials themselves.…
