Visual Poem Comparison Essay

When looking at the visual bio assignment and the compare and contrast essay there were many parallels that I noticed. When we were first given the visual bio assignment in class you being to emphasize the importance of making the title slide an eye catcher. When doing the title slide, we had to take in consideration of color choice and word selection to really get our readers attention. When given the compare and contrast assignment, the same guidelines followed just in a different way. With the essay we are not using the visual aspect to help capture our audience attention, instead we have to take that same concept and now use our words to be the capturing factor to help grab our reader’s attention as if they are looking at a visual. The importance of these guidelines was to help better learn organization skills when doing assignments. When given the guidelines it was not to restrict our ability to express ourselves in our unique way but it was a limit to help us not venture off to far and be off the correct path.

The poem that taught me the most about a different culture was the empire poem. When first listening to this poem i was very stereotypical with some of the more obvious information.

I am hoping to accomplish the idea of pointing out that each generation has its own disadvantages due to our skin color but the point we should all be trying to prove is no matter what they throw at us we will remain the better race. Though we may never be given the fair hand to other races we are not the only race that has to deal with the discrimination and the disrespect but it’s the matter of us coming together to help better each other and not let them divide us. We have to be the bigger people to find the courage to fight and prove our point in peace and not to give them the reaction they are looking for out of

Many people wonder why the world is the way it is. Maybe it’s because we don’t know how to cooperate, or maybe it’s because we’re scared. People sometimes give their opinions whether it’s hurtful or not, and sometimes we fail to remind ourselves that no matter what anyone says, no matter how much they try to hurt you, you know what you are and you know what is true.…

"The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" was composed in 1970. This was amid the time after the Civil Rights Movement was enormous. To acknowledge a superior advantage is the first step to changing the world. Majority of white people seem surprised at the fact that there is still a divide between races in modern times. They’ve taken the pretentious viewpoint of claiming that they don’t ‘see race’ that they just ‘the person’ and while that might be what most activists are striving towards in modern times, all that really means is that they are benefiting from the privileges of being white. It is almost impossible to relate to someone who is struggling because of their skin color when the privileged have never had to face such unfair and unjust effects because of the way they look. I am white, I am female, and those are facts.…

It has been more than 50 years since the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous “I have a dream speech”, yet racial inequality and tension about race is still very much a part of U.S. society. A recent report from the Pew Research Center called “King’s Dream Remains an Elusive Goal; Many Americans See Racial Disparities.” The Pew Report found that people from different ethnic groups varied in what they think about the prevalence of racism, and whether people are treated differently by race within particular social institutions. The report also documents significant economic inequalities between whites and blacks regarding wealth, family income, and homeownership.…

A problem in today's society is racial inequality. Almost daily, we see cases on the news where someone has been shot by the opposite race, or a White Cop shoots a Black Male or vice-versa, and someone says the suspect had done nothing wrong while he’s either resisting arrest or pulling some kind of object out of their waist or pocket. Today’s society feels they have to be so politically correct and feel they need to against everything. We’re always seeing on the news of riots or protests of people holding signs saying either: #WhiteLivesMatter, #BlackLivesMatter, and #AllLivesMatter. The truth is, all lives matter…

LIMITED OPPORTUNITIES FOR AFRICAN AMERICANS African Americans have come a very long way. We shouldn’t fail to acknowledge the progression of the race that has also made a gargantuan impact on the world; ranging from the right to vote to military status and involvement to even the presidency of the United States. Everyone knows the long history African Americans have endured and are still enduring. Despite the fact that slavery is a painful sadness in our history that is long behind us, its fruits of racism, inequality, partiality and discrimination still remain plaguing black Americans culture and lifestyle altogether. Big problems faced by us include the lack of availability of industrial jobs, security misinterpretation and prejudice, disrespect…
