Visual Analysis Essay
The assigned artwork is that of the construction of the Golden Bridge Gate in San Francisco, California. The Golden Gate Bridge is 1.6 km wide and 4.8 kilometers long and was among the premier suspension bridges to be built in the United States. The piece of artwork was drawn on oil and canvas in 1943 as the project was still under construction by Ray Strong (Strong, 2009). At the time of its construction, the bridge was considered to be one of the most spectacular and complex structures across the world. In the history of the United States, the bridge was one of the structures that allowed the country to recover from the economic recession of the 1930s. Once completed, the structure was a magnificent building that has maintained its popularity to date. In this essay, I conducted a thorough visual analysis of the artwork through use of various visual objects and images that are in the artwork.
Undertaking a visual analysis is often perceived to be a technical procedure although it is also a subjective and reflective task. From the first sighting of the artwork, one does not realize what the artist wanted to depict since the bridge is …show more content…
The color used is the normal color that is on the different structures. The foundation of the bridge is in brick red, a color that is synonymous with the famous bridge. The sea is also blue whereas the soil surrounding the construction is synonymous with the soil color in San Francisco. The author is tentative to detail as one sees the inclusion of certain elements that may be ignored by many paintings. They include the stones near the sea shore, window openings in the construction building, and the topography of the land on the other side of the sea
