To be successful a company or any type of business has to have a trustworthy relationship. According to Powell (2006), “Building trust in virtual teams is complicated because time and geographical distance precludes most synchronous communication. The controls and coordination individuals are accustomed to in collocated team encounters are often lacking in a virtual environment, making trust development difficult” (p. 302). Trying to process to much information can cause one to inappropriately appraise a situation, which causes problems in productivity. To avoid information overload one could simply ignore some information. The problem with ignoring the information workers do not know what they are missing. Another way for teams to avoid information overload is to delegate tasks among the team. Allowing other individuals to help and share responsibility keeps the work off one employee. There is an article which talks about mind mapping helping with information over load. Landale (2007) states, “There is no doubt that people need help with information overload but the big question is how well these techniques work.
