Another reason for virtual schools is to provide a safe environment for students who fall victim to bullies. Unfortunately bullying is becoming very popular in our society, and it can mainly be found in our schools. Students who feel as though they are somewhat superior spend their time destructing their piers, which in reality is a reflection of their own insecurities. Statistics have shown that one in four children admit to having been bullied at some point in their education. Also, approximately one hundred and sixty thousand students skip school every day because of bullying, and sadly these numbers are only rising. Those who are currently voting against more funding to virtual schools are worried with where the money will come from to fund these schools. First off, education should be a priority-especially to our government because it is what creates the back bone of our society. So, the solution is simple-do it! Yes, it will require a little extra budgeting but why would we not fund this when it benefits everyone? I do not think that is is just or right for the people representing us in Washington D.C to hold back on education. Education is essential, and if we want to continue to be the best, free country in the world we have to have our children well educated. Another reason people are against virtual public schooling is the worry of depriving students from extracurricular or social activities such as academic clubs or sports. These opportunities are easily provided by the community, but most people do not think of them as primary sources of social interaction.
