Additionally some members of the group did not know what the overall goal of the assignment was and relied other members to fill them in. One member of the group could not devote time to the group as he was not committed to the group. A few members soon started to complain about the other group members. Two members shared information with each other rather than with the whole group since they felt the others were not doing their fair share.
2. What should the group focus on when they have their in-class meeting? What key issues should they identify and discuss? What is your team’s approach to completing the project? This project is difficult for anyone to complete in an online class setting such as this. However, this is not because of any task that is assigned for this project, but because this assignment forces us to learn to effectively communicate with each other to complete a common goal. We began communicating early this week regarding what we need to accomplish in order to complete this project, and we have come to a conclusion.…

In my group I will have Pat Solitano Jr., Tiffany Maxwell, Pat Solitano, Sr., Ronnie and Dolores Solitano. I believe the main presenting problem for this group would be stress. Stress has put some of these individuals into difficult situations causing them to act out and say hurtful words. In this case Pat Jr. will throw fits when he hears his wedding song and gets very upset or stressed whenever anything about his ex-wife Nikki is mentioned. Tiffany lives a very stressful life her husband just passed away and she is known as a whore because she sleeps with many different people.…

I would be more proactive and initiate communication amongst the team. I both post in the discussion board and then email every member with my contact information along with a Google Doc of the assignment. To minimize the challenges of scheduling meetings, I would also tell everyone the times I am available to meet during the initial contact and ask everyone to do the same. This way we can decide early on what our schedule as a team is and plan our meetings accordingly. Though this assignment was not without its challenges, it was a valuable learning experience that I would look forward to doing again in the…

When most of the work on individual parts of the topic was done, one of our group members informed us that he had to withdraw from the course due to personal circumstances. Now the work of four people had to be divided among three of us. Even at that point our group was working hard, despite the numerous assignments in other courses. Another frustration with the assignment hit me when the deadline for submitting the assignment was change to three days earlier right before the date for submission. At that point our group had little to no time to combine all individual parts together, proofread and submit the assignment.…

Every single person in the world will end up having to deal with problems and challenges in their life, whether it be mental, physical, as a group, or as an individual. People genuinely have two options when it comes to dealing with problems. They can stand up and do everything they can to figure them out, or they can sit back and let the problem takeover. One of the hardest problems to face is in a group setting because in order to fix the problem it requires someone to step up and be a true leader. Once the problem is solved, however the feeling of accomplishment is astonishing.…

I faced the internal struggle of being a good group member and being a good student. I struggled with communicating the urgency of completing the project to the rest of the group and not annoying everyone on the group chat. In the end, this challenge was solved by my fellow group members completing (thankfully and barely) before the deadline. If I could do the project over I would be less passive aggressive and talk to my group members about completing the work together to get it done earlier. Looking past all of my complaints and challenges this group assignment proved to be helpful and educational.…

The NASW core values guide my interactions with all the individuals and all the groups that I provide services to. While working with groups I have continued to learn the importance of allowing the NASW core values to guide my work and ways to encompass each of those values. More specifically I will reflect on how I encompass the core value of respect and social justice in several different ways. As a group leader encompassing respect into group work is accomplished by establishing with the group that each individual has the right to participate and contribute as much or as little in the group as they desire, each individual has the right to their own feelings, and as the leader I encourage the concept that it is acceptable to agree to disagree.…

Laying too much emphasis on definitions, being an armchair strategist, is far less important than examples from the real world that are more convincing. First is the example referring to decisions in virtual teams. A special system in Ford Motor Company called Ford 's eRoom provides a platform for its employees to scan various documents, and make decisions systemically. This virtual room not only reduces the burden of politeness towards the leader that arise in face to face meetings, but also removes the most influential type of pressure which is the conforming to the majority in an unknowingly place on each other(Kurtzberg, 2014). Another case is the Rush university Medical Center in Chicago.…

“As important as the participation of group member is to group synergy, no one wants to encourage participation from members who are obnoxious or bent on sharing misinformation”. (J. Dan Rothwell, pp 276). 3 out of 5 group members were only focused on finishing their portion of the work, which complicated the whole project because it has to be done by the member who proposed the change. Low participation is the problem I felt that we encounter in this group project. I was fully motivated, and willing to spend more time with it; however, not all members were doing effective communications to follow through.…
