Known as the Mesa Verde Crusader, Virginia Donoghue McClurg was a newspaperwoman for a New York publication the” the New York Daily Graphic who while on assignment for the paper visited the Anasazi Cliff dwellings to write a story, who was so impressed by their ingenuity and technological advancement that she would later move to Colorado Springs and devote much of her life to their preservation and study for future generations and is widely considered to be one of if not the greatest factor in the perseveration. Vida Ellison another key figure in their preservation was not motivated by such altruism intentions.
