An organization can adopt various structures in its development. A functional structure on an organization is a design that groups people on the basis of their common skills. As organizations increase in size, their products may begin to differ. This is where divisional structure begins to take shape. Here, the organization begins to produce more than one product that may be considered different from the other. The Virgin Islands Department of education operates in a functional structure. The people in the organization are separated based on their level of expertise and professional skills. Administrators are paired with other administrators, and teachers are situated in a common location, the school. It is evident that the Virgin Islands Department of education needs to increase its focus on enhancing the moral of its educators. The morale of employees can be considered the most important intangible asset that an organization can neglect. The morale of employees can be directly correlated to their performance, and in essence should be one of the primary focuses of administration.
