Violent Video Games Increase Aggressive Behavior Among Children

Did you know 60% of middle school boys and 40% of middle school girls who played at least one Mature-rated game hit or beat up someone, compared to the 39% of boys and 14% of girls who did not play M-rated games? Or that 90% of pediatricians and 67% of parents agreed or strongly agreed that violent video games can increase aggressive behavior among children. Even 28% of boys and 5% of girls agreed that liking guns and weapons motivated their gameplay. On Debate.Org, 49% people agreed that violent video games contribute to youth violence. Laura Davis, M.D., a child and adolescent psychiatrist believe too many children are exposed to too much violence through video games and that there can be consequences. There are no real numbers to prove violent video games contribute to youth violence. “It is impossible to prove this causality with these sorts of things”, said Dr.Davis certain personalities are unable to so easily differentiate between fantasy and a real world. Violent video games have been blamed for the school shooting, increases in bullying, violence towards women and other criminal behavior.
