Over $11.7 billion were sold in video games in 2008. Most kids have reported to own a game that was not appropriate for their age. The first time this problem surfaced was when 13 students were massacred in Columbine, Colorado. Video Games are the reason for all these horrible crimes because the games are getting more violent, kids are numbed from the violence that’s happening and parents are in disbelief that their kids would do something that horrible.

First of all, video games become more graphic and violent every year. The games have taken a turn for the worst. “The video game Industry” created their own rating system to protect themselves from government control (Do Violent Video Games). The further we get into technology the more gory the games get. Every year the games become more realistic. They have even made goggles that can “transport” you to a new world. Some people get addicted to these games and don’t have human interaction for weeks. In conclusion, games are becoming more and more real.

Video Games and Violence “Violent Video Games: Rehearsing Aggression”, is an article in The Chronicle of Higher Education written by Elizabeth Carll explaining that violent video games play an important factor on violence. The article is a response to Christopher Fergusen, an advocate for violent video games, who previously made the article “Video Games: the Latest Scapegoat for Violence”. She focuses on the body of research available to show that violent video games cause violent behavior and goes on to say that limiting access will only allow the parents to control what media their kids have. However, Carll acknowledges that not everyone that plays these games will become violent. She writes, “Obviously, not all people who play video games…

Although violent videogames do expose adolescents to graphic content, that does not mean the viewer will become violent themselves. Video Games Do Not Cause Violent Behavior Over the years there have been several incidents that have stirred up the emotions of people, parents and especially investigators. These incidents include the Sandy Hook Elementary Shooting, the Columbine Massacre, and the incident in Colorado where a man went on a shooting spree in an Aurora movie theater. There was one key thing that aroused people’s emotions connected by investigators to all three incidents: video games. This led to the belief that if the parents’ children play violent video games that the child will become violent. Even though people have been led to believe that video games cause people to become cruel and commit violent actions, video games do not cause people to commit acts of violence because they don 't have time to…
