Large amounts of youth populate gangs, as forty percent of gang members are under eighteen (statisticbrain.com). Students in schools would be required to take courses that provide an educational background on the dangers of gangs, which would educate our youth about what possible consequences could result from gang involvement. This would deter the students from becoming involved in gangs. Many young people today are uneducated and lack the ability to determine what outcomes could result from decisions to be involved with gangs; however, an educational system that would teach the students about the possible negative outcomes would increase their awareness of the consequences posed by gang involvement and guide the students away from dangerous gangs, reducing the number of active gang …show more content…
A reward, perhaps in monetary value, could be presented for completing the course. Even with the extra expenses, with the prevention of gang violence, money would be saved and the reward would easily be made up for in expense reduction, whether that be in damages inflicted upon by gangs, or money to fund police forces to counter the violence gangs cause.
