VIOLENT CRIMES:

Fiscal year to date, violent crime in Mid-City had gone down 16%.

Murder:

There was one reported murders in Mid-City Division this quarter, which is the same amount compared to the same quarter last year.

On July 13, 2016 at 0435 hours, Officers responded to the east alley of 3900 Arizona Street to investigate a report of a male who had just assaulted a female. The male was traveling on his bicycle and struck the female in the back of the head as he rode by. The female fell face down and suffered a brain injury. The female was placed on life support and was never able to succumb her injuries. The unknown male is still outstanding.

Rape:

There were 19 reported rapes in Mid-City Division this quarter which is 11 cases less as compared to the same quarter last year (42%). Of the 19 reported cases, six (6) were an assault with the intent to commit rape.

Robbery:

Fiscal year to date, Mid-City had an 11% decrease.

There were 68 robberies reported in Mid-City Division this quarter, 8 less as compared to the same quarter last year (14% decrease). 47 cases occurred as street robberies and the weapons used included: 7 with guns, 35 by hand, 1 by knife, and 4 were listed as unknown. There were 10 commercial robberies and the weapons used included: 2 by knife and 8 by hand. There were 6 residential robberies and the weapons used included: 1 with a gun, 3 by hands and 2 was unknown. The most robberies occurred on beat 813 with a total of 47 cases.…
