Blame The Artist And The Media Analysis

I personally do not think it is far to criticize artists and the media for violent acts. One reason is that every person is responsible for their own action. Every law or rule created today has consequences based on peoples own actions weather the act is violent or not. How can you blame someone else when you run a red light? So then how can you blame the artist or media when you were the one who committed such a violent act? In this society we have been raised to take responsibility of our own actions in everything we do. You stayed out late, you get the consequences of being grounded. You made the decisions to not do your homework, so you got the bad work. There’s no one to blame in these situation but yourself. So what makes a violent act so much different than other things? I wasn’t allowed to watch certain shows or movies because that had inappropriate items that were not for kids. Restrictions in my family deferred because I also had a younger brother. So when I was older I would watch certain things that he could not. I do know some my friends that were allowed to watch R rated movies when I still was not allowed to but I never saw violent behaviors or even a difference in behaviors in them. I honestly don’t think my restriction really impacted me at all. If I were 12 and decided to watch a movie that had guns and killings in it, I honestly don’t think I would be influenced to pick up a gun and do the same thing. I would be more sacred of guns than anything else. This is just my view on things, but honestly most people in the world would be just like me. I can back this up by looking at the number of killers in the world that have seen violent movies versus the amount of non-killers in the world that have seen violent movies.
