Violence In The Twentieth Century

During the nineteenth century many people’s lives were damaged from the violence that happened due to the wars, however this brought new adventures and growing of the territories. The nineteenth century Industrial Revolution is what formed the twentieth century, however without the trade routes, new inventions and new discoveries we would not have all that we have today. “In The New World in the Twentieth Century from Empire to Nations” by Daniel Brower and Thomas Sanders it is explained that due to the new imperialism, and the European conquerors, trading routes had begun off the coasts of Africa and Asia. They had a production of distribution of goods and products. Because of this they began to have wealth, however it was now controlled by capitalism and corporations. This then led to power within the government. They were now completely depending on the technology for growing, which led to new skills needed and more factory and labor. Scientists began to become very important in the nineteenth century. The main form of new discoveries was brought by Thomas Edison, who invented electricity. Electric lighting began to be used in not only businesses but in homes as well. This is huge for the twentieth century. Without this, there wouldn’t be near the inventions or capabilities of things we have today. Engineers were next in bringing their skill sets. They began to manufacture automobiles. Without these, today the economy would not have been able to grow as big and become as industrialized as it has and people would not be able to work as far from their home as they do. This all would not have been done without the corporations having responsibility for everything. Their success depended on the profits from their business to keep everything going, just as it does today. They had to take risks and this may have meant they failed sometimes, but they could not let that bother them, they had to continue with their company to make the twentieth century grow (Brower and Sanders
