Anytime a tragedy like a train crash occurs the government, company executives, and pundits attempt to discover what went awry. In the case of the Metrolink in 2008, Robert Sanchez was emotionally distraught, traveling at a high rate of speed, and distracted by a text message crashed his train into a Union Pacific train. Sanchez along with twenty-three passengers died because of the collision (Steiner, 2012, p. 342).
