Congratulations to Viola Davis for being the first ever African American woman to receive 3 Oscars Nominations. Viola Davis is nominated for “Best Supporting Actress”, “Best Picture”, and “Adapted Screenplay” for her hit movie “Fences” starring Denzel Washington.
The film Fences, which was directed by Denzel Washington was adapted from the 1983 play by August Washington, focuses in on the experiences of Troy and Rose Maxon in Pittsburg during the 1950’s.
"Thank you to the Academy for recognizing this extraordinary, important film and my work in it," Davis tweeted excitedly after the nominees were announced. "Thank you Denzel for being at the helm!".
