Not only can you invest so much valuable time into something as intriguing as collecting vinyl, but you are also introduced to a world of many possibilities in terms of music. Colin Larkins argued that Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was an album that revolutionized, changed and re-invented the boundaries of modern popular music (Larkins, 1994). In light of the facts that were pointed out in this essay, Larkins' statement seems to be correct. To go even further in this consideration, it can be argued that the Beatles revolutionized popular music, and popular culture as well. From music industry standard practices to new recording techniques, right through to fashion, the Beatles profoundly changed the sixties, and are still a huge influence to many people today.…

It transcends the frontiers of communication as people can speak and tell stories to others, even though they do not speak the same language. When listening to music, everyone can understand it and feel something if they open themselves up.…

Collecting baseballs opens up a way to connect not only with history, but also with families and other collectors. The collection I chose to analyze was started in 1987 because of a recommendation of a therapist to find a hobby. The man who started the collection was a military man, a member of the Marine Corps. The therapist suggested finding a hobby so he wouldn’t “bring the Marine Corps home.” That was 28 years ago and the man’s collection has expanded along with that man’s emotional growth.…

I saw a picture at the museum that caught my attention. The picture told the community to finish school. I thought that was very important because without a good education, you have no change to make it in the world. I am glad they took the time and made the decision to become color blind. We are all the same in gods’ eyes despite our many walks of like. It is so awesome to hear how these people, “with the key word being people” made wonderful music together in Stax and overlooked the color barrier.…

What I think I did well: I think I played long notes well and extended the notes to their full value, for example, in measures 6-8 I didn’t pause in between the half notes. I also think I articulated well because at the slurs I didn’t tongue and on the notes without slurs, I remembered to tongue them. There are many measures in the song where there are slurs, but in measure 5 I slurred the first three notes and tongued the last one. Most of the time, I didn’t breathe in between notes until there was a breath mark. I didn’t play too fast or too slow.…

One of the most conflicting topics in the music industry is the idea of the death of the album. It is evident that sells of artists' albums are plummeting, but that does not necessarily mean that the album itself is coming to an end. Artists creat albums as "artistic statements, and to build a body of work artists cannot only be proud of, but build tours around" (G.M.). There are also still fans that want a solid object to hold as a memento. It makes them feel like a part of something bigger.…

The recording career of the Beatles from 1962 to 1970 can be divided into 3 different style periods, namely: the early period, the middle period, and the late period. In order to analyze the remarkable changes in style that took place throughout the band’s historic recording career, one must look at each period individually. According to Tuomas Eerola (10), in order to do this properly, the solution can only be obtained by classifying the works of these musicians into a number of recording projects. Thus, the use of an intermediate level between a song and its period of recording portrays changes in its style of music in a more accurate manner. The first period includes all of the albums that the Beatles recorded between 1963 and 1965 including…
