Vincent Van Gogh's Irises And Jan Davidz De Heem

Improved Essays
Historically, we have witnessed some fantastic artworks which revolved around the beauty of flowers such as Vincent Van Gogh's "Irises" and Jan Davidz de Heem's "Vase of Flowers". Another work of art that based on flowers is Biser Lapev's "W19" that has compelled me to review it.
The subject within this oil painting is a mug, that is placed in the centre, occupied by sunflowers and daisies. Attention is drawn directly to the subject by the usage of contrasting colours. The subject is purposefully depicted by flamboyant warm colours, in addition to tints of green and white. In comparison to the flowers, the background is displayed with hues of blue and titanium white. The striking wash of cobalt blue in the centre adds a sense of interest

Many paintings that come further after previously stated ‘Banksia Cobs’, truly presents Preston’s change in themes ideas and concepts through the styles and techniques she has elected to use. A set of paintings all incorporating banksia’s in them, including ‘Rose and Banksia’ (1936), ‘Banksia’ (1938), and ‘The Brown Pot’ (1940), all present the drastic changes in the styles, techniques, elements, and principles Preston uses. In ‘Rose and Banksia’ it features exactly what would have been depicted from her perspective. This means she has used many techniques to present a style in which sets the tone of realism. This then changes to a style which involves a new perspective and a more ‘frantic’ or clustered concept in her next painting, ‘Banksia’.…

Henri Matisse painted Bonheur de Vivre (c. 1905-1906) within the introductory period of radically charged, color-based fauvist work. The color in Bonheur de Vivre easily conveys a sense of joy present in a free-natured romp through nature the painting attempts to emulate. The painting contains sixteen feminine-coded human figures sitting in a hyper-colored field. Instead of a contemporary scene, trees enclose a mythic clearing.…
