Vincent Van Gogh's Impact On Society

There have been many great artists who have great contributions in the world of art. As per me, from all of them, Vincent van Gogh highly impacted other artists and society. The title of the article on which my paper is based is “Van Gogh & the courtesan.” This article was written by Dmae Roberts. The article was published in the newspaper “The Asian Reporter.” This article was published in the newspaper on December 19th, 2016. I searched the article on the ProQuest Newsstand (ProQuest) database by typing the keyboard “Van Gogh.”

Dmae starts by telling about her visit to the Vincent Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, Poland. She is already a fan of Van Gogh’s artworks and “Starry Night” and “Sunflowers” are her favorite work of art by Van Gogh. The presence of Japanese artworks at the museum amazed and confused her at the same time. Looking closely at the paintings she found out that they were updated edition of some original Japanese artwork revised by Van Gogh. She fell in love with those revised Japanese artworks by Van Gogh. This included the “Plum Gardens” originally made by Japanese artist Hiroshi who is known for series of landscapes named “Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji.” It also included the remake of “The Courtesans” by Keisai Eisen which he named “Courtesans (after …show more content…
The way he expresses his feelings and emotions in his paintings and I am always fascinated by the story of his life and therefore Van Gogh is my favorite artist. I also like works of arts and other art related things from different countries, for example, I love the patterns on utensils from ancient Egyptian period. The Japanese revised artworks by Van Gogh had both international characteristics and essence of my favorite artist.
