“I put my heart and soul into my work, and I have lost my mind in the process.” (Vincent Van Gogh) This quote is an accurate description of the life of Vincent Van Gogh. He had so much passion, and love. He also faced much rejection which caused him to go crazy. He was born in 1853, to his father, a minister, and his mother, an artist. His mother inspired him to go into art, and he began his career working with his uncle at an art dealership. After he fell in love with a girl, and she rejected his marriage proposal, Van Gogh was very hurt by this and had a mental breakdown. He decided to devote his life to God, and considered devoting himself completely to the church. He could not become a minister due to various conflicts with the schools of theology that he attended.
In 1880, Van Gogh decided to move in with his brother Theo and become an artist.

He is now known as one of the best dutch artists. His paintings are some of the most valuable and expensive in the entire world. “Portrait of Dr. Gachet” sold for 82.5 million dollars. According to Vincent Van Gogh Gallery, “In a short period of ten years Van Gogh made approximately 900 paintings.”(Vincent Van Gogh Gallery). In addition, bio.com says, “He completed more than 2,100 works, consisting of 860 oil paintings and more than 1,300 watercolors, drawings and sketches.” (Bio.com)
Vincent Van Gogh is one of the best painters in the world. His paintings are worth a lot of money, and are very beautiful. He was very mentally unstable, but painting amazing things helped keep him somewhat emotionally stable. Many people feel that his lack of sanity helped him be such a fantastic painter. His family was very important to him His mother inspired him to paint. His father inspired him to devote his life to God, and begin to become a minister.
