At the center of the painting is the pair of shoes, which has more fabric that will bend downward to the ankle. The shoe that is on the left, but could be a right shoe, has the part that should cover the ankle folded down. Also the shoe lace does not even go through each eyelet. The eyelet is a hole that is probably the width of a pencil eraser and it there are many on there. It reaches up to the ankle where the fabric that ca fold is.
