The mission statement of Villa Maria College states that transforming and empowering the students is the goal of the school. A mission this bold may not have the same effect on every single student that walks through the doors of the school however, it has had this effect on me for the short time that I have been a student here. Coming to Villa Maria College has had an overall positive effect on my life in more ways than one. The college has helped me grow as a person but not in a big extravagant way.

The atmosphere of the college is what I feel connected to. The feeling I usually get while walking around the college or sitting somewhere is tranquility. Villa makes me feel like I can just go anywhere and relax while I do homework or anything else because everyone at the college seems to be focused on themselves and their interests much like myself. However, I do feel disconnected to the school at times because I do not really talk to many people here. I have been a quiet person all my life, and I do not think that will ever change; but this gets in the way of me meeting new people. Another reason for that is I do not feel like I share too many of the same interest as other people at the college for example, it seems like everyone at the college is interested in basketball or playing/making music; sports are not something that really interest me nor do I aspire to be a musical artist like many people in my major, being a sound engineer for movies, music, tv shows, and video games is my ultimate goal.
The mission of the college has had an impact on my life because I think I have grown a fair amount while being at Villa. Being a student at Villa has helped me become more responsible in school and out of school. The quality of my work has also improved a lot since the beginning of the semester, and part of that is from me being more sure of myself thanks to the encouragement of my professors and other people
