Mr. Emeka Nazia gave us great advice on how he has used electronic communication in order to be successful with his “Acing the Grad” videos. He sometimes communicates with his wife and business partner via text or email for business updates and communications. Along with the lessons learned in chapter four and five, chapter six provided lessons regarding delivering good and neutral messages. Chapter six discussed the deductive style of writing. In this style, we learned that the main topic of the message should be delivered initially with the points of the topic following in the body of the message whether it is a memo, email, letter etc. We also learned to differentiate between a neutral and good message. Neutral messages are mostly informative and don’t look to seek reaction versus the good message that hopes to get a positive reaction from its recipients. Each person should have a specific role to carry out when working with a team. When groups or teams don’t work collaboratively it can lead to the task being done at the last minute and can create conflict within the group. This can lead to many mistakes being made when completing a task. It is good to keep each other updated when working together. This will assure everyone that the work is being done on time and can keep morale high. Collaborating effectively can speed up the process, make something more effective and improve the relationship between those within the group. Dr.Paglavas mentioned some of the many organizations he collaborates with and taught us the importance of networking. Daja McDaniel spoke on how she benefited from speaking in class and her accepting networking opportunities in order to help her mom be successful in business. Ms. McDaniel advised that networking and being a member of different organizations can increase your chances of opportunity. Ajane Pridgen said she was shy until she started to network. Duane Long also taught us the importance of collaborative work. He endured many obstacles that could’ve easily made him want to give up while in the process of starting his insurance company “Long
