During the 1960s it became evident that there was a great influence of pop culture in the United States of America. A pop culture not only affecting clothing styles but political ideologies. At the time televisions had become common within the typical household making it possible to view all of the atrocities that were happening. In Vietnam there were many thousands of reporters who were covering the site both by radio and newspaper and were sending them back to the USA and to Europe. These images depicted horrifying images, of both vietnamese people being killed like the famous picture of the girl running naked because her village had been attacked by chemical weapons and pictures of dead and wounded soldiers. Unlike most governments the US officially did not try to censure any of the images or news that was coming from the Vietnam war. However they made sure to retaliate these images that were negatively impacting and changing the opinions of the citizens who had commenced to believe that this war was unnecessary. As can be seen in the fourth source of the Appendix, with images criticising the Viet Cong. It is likely that Life magazine produced one of the most influential acts of the Vietnam war when they filled one of their magazines with the photographs of the 242 US soldiers that had died during this week.
