How do Monsoon shape Vietnam Landscape?
The Eighteenth Emperor, Hung Vuong, the had a beautiful princess named Mi Nuong. She was tall with a fair skin and long dark hair. When she turned to marriageable age, Hung Vuong consulted his court and decided to hold a contest to find a suitable prince. Her beauty was notable that many foreign princes expressed their interests and proposed to Mi Nuong. Sadly, none of them met the criteria to be the King's son-in-law. One day, two young men appeared in the court. They were Son Tinh, the Mountain god and Thuy Tinh, the Water god. They were equally powerful, distinguished, and good looking. On the right hand of the painting, the ocean looks peaceful with never-ending, softly waves. The portrait enhances the impression on Thuy Tinh and highlights the role of water in Vietnamese agriculture, mostly in the form of monsoon. Above the sea, a moon is drawn to demonstrate its association with water. Monsoon occurs every year from May to October and distributes rainfall across Vietnam. Rainy season starts in the North and extends to the South of the country. In addition, Vietnam geographic consists of mountains and hills, only two regions in East North and South have suitable land for rice production. These key agricultural regions are influenced by monsoon climate, which occasionally come with heavy rain and damage the crop. Regardless the drawback, water contribute to the success of the economy, quality of life, and happiness of Vietnamese. It is critical for the sustainable development. During the year, water is essential and helpful in the majority of time. In contrast to the assumption that Thuy Tinh obsesses about revenge and competition, he is responsible for the living lives on Earth. Although he wants a fair fight with Son Tinh, Thuy Tinh only attacks in few months and spends the rest of the year to collaborate with the god of Land and promote economic growth.
