Many parents are complaining that the violence in video games and in music are the reason this generation of gamers are becoming more violent and more aggressive. In reality, it is the parent 's responsibility to monitor and watch their child, a lot of people tend to let their child sit and play a game for hours at a time. Parents are using media, television, and video games kind of as a babysitter, as long as they are quiet and out of there way it is ok. It is not acceptable to put the blame on the creators of these video games or producers of these shows as they are just trying to earn a buck, this issue falls back on the parenting. Although I can see that these games can be very graphic and gory, parents should observe what their kids are playing or what they are watching, because it is their responsibility. So if parents are noticing that their little one is picking up the bad behavior of a game, they can simply go and look to purchase another more beneficial game for them. In the article, “Dream Machines”, Wright states that this generation gamers are “..learning in a totally new way… they will treat the world as a place for creation”( Wright 211). Video games help you expand and open up your imagination and learn things in a different way. Just like the Call of Duty games, gamers have the chance to join and play with other gamers all around the world, and because they have to play as a team they build team building skills and people skills.
