Video Games Don T Make Me Violent

Many gamers are very quick to say "no, video games don’t make me violent!" having that phrase as defense mechanism after being provoked by people who question their interest in video games. And when asked if they would kill someone in real life like they do in video games, they usually say no. If they wouldn't do it in real life, then what compels them to do it in the game? Possibly that there aren’t actual consequences after committing a crime in a game, the person playing doesn't see how violence is wrong. It’s possible that killing is appealing in a game because it’s associated with winning. Regardless if the violence didn't occur in reality, they still made a decision to kill. Due to the morality of killing being altered, people forget that killing is wrong in that short time of "pulling the trigger." The exposure of gruesome content repeatedly being presented in media can cause the viewer to become desensitized to the violence. After being desensitized, people don't mind hearing about "just another stabbing" or "another man being shot". Violent media also provides vicious examples to be imitated as well as influence aggression. …show more content…
After being told consistently that people are getting murdered, you lose interest because it always happens. When a person plays a video game, how is it that they are able to nonchalantly go through the game and shoot whatever object they can so swiftly. The visual repetition of the violent action causes the person become emotionally unresponsive, and thus "perform better
