A series of studies have been done to see if video games are good for the brain. They trained gamers that had little to no previous experience of playing action games, giving them 50 hours to play. After the practice they found that the gamers actually performed better than they did before on perceptual tasks such as pattern skills etc. The enhanced learning of the regularity and structure of environments may act as a core mechanism by which action video game play influences performance in perception, attention, and cognition. (Griffiths 7). This is saying that video games improve your perception, attention, and cognition. Which is totally opposite from being violent. Violence is in the eye of the beholder, meaning that the game itself is not the problem, it’s the person playing the game. Although people who commit crimes have played video games doesn 't mean that they are linked. Studies have been done over the past 30 years or so, and they have not found a link from violent crimes and video games.
